Since 1961, the Century Club has used the game of golf as the platform to showcase San Diego to an
international audience, generate revenue for the city, and make a difference in our community by creating
programs that benefit at-risk and underserved youth charities, first responders, and military members.
Champions for Youth
Champions for Youth (CFY) is the core charitable program of the Century Club of San Diego, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit that manages the Farmers Insurance Open, San Diego’s PGA TOUR event. CFY is a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign that strives to strengthen our charity partners’ ability to achieve long-term goals by providing development support and opportunities for collaboration, volunteerism, and brand exposure.
How It Works
Six local charities fundraise from Giving Tuesday, November 30, to January 30, the final day of the 2022 Farmers Insurance Open. Depending on the amount raised and number of donors each charity has, organizations receive additional funds from the Farmers Cares Bonus Pool. The 2022 Farmers Cares Bonus Pool is $285,000. Last year, organizations earned a 57% median return on donation, meaning for every $1 donated, the charities received $1.57.
Growing Golf
Growing Golf, is our initiative to support two organizations that use golf to benefit the community and enhance diversity within the game by supporting Pro Kids, First Tee – San Diego and the APGA Tour.
In addition to funding opportunities, Pro Kids members participate in the Youth Clinic and benefit from the Tony Scholl Cup, an annual Century Club tournament.
In 2022, The APGA Tour Farmers Insurance Invitational will be expanded to a two-day tournament with 18 holes on the North Course on Saturday and 18 holes on the South Course on Sunday. APGA Tour players will have a full PGA TOUR experience on Sunday, including walking scorers, scoreboards and more. Sunday will also include the first-ever live coverage of an APGA Tour event on The Golf Channel.
Fans can tune into all the action on the GOLF Channel with coverage tentatively starting at 2 p.m. PST.
Military Support
With a large military presence in San Diego, this program salutes the men and women of our armed forces and their families. In support of our longtime partner, the Armed Services YMCA, we will provide an annual donation, volunteer at their monthly neighborhood food exchange program, and provide one of their families with a “new” vehicle.
The larger military community enjoys 20% off grounds tickets on our Full Field Days (Wednesday and Thursday). All active, retired, reservists, veterans, and dependents are eligible. To purchase, log onto GovX to verify military service and receive a unique promo code.
Auction Requests
Each year, the Century Club of San Diego supports more than 100 charities and community organizations through in-kind donations of Farmers Insurance Open ticket packages for use in fundraising event auctions and raffles. The purpose of this program is to provide a tool to generate incremental funds that will assist San Diego County schools and charities in achieving their missions.
Based on the timing of the Farmers Insurance Open, requests are accepted from June – November for the following year’s tournament. To request tickets for the 2023 Farmers Insurance Open, check back here in early summer.
